The liberating Al-Khalidiya Island will secure the international fast road connecting Baghdad the capital with the gray Fallujah towards the upper areas of the Euphrates up to the international borders with Syria and Jordan. This road is considered the lifeline of main supply line for the armed forces that is open with an attack battle system in the northern and western Al-Anbar’s desert to liberate the rest of the government’s cites and outskirts that are still under ISIS’s control like Rawa, Anah, Al-Qa’im, and others. This road was exposed to attacks, ambushes, and bombs from ISIS which came from Al-Khalidiya Island. From the goals that were achieved by that island’s liberation is pushing ISIS’s members towards the island’s district where they can be detected and chased by the Iraqi air force and the International Alliance, the possibilities of sneaking to the west of Al-Anbar will be reduced, and the attacks on the stationed forces in those districts will be stopped. What makes Al-Khalidiya’s battle special is that it was purely Iraqi, as the International Alliance air force didn’t participate and the PMF (People’s Mobilization Forces) had an essential role with the coordination and cooperation with the rest of the armed forces parts (the Army, the Federal Police, and Al-Hashd Al-Shayari) that participated in breaking in and liberating the island.
This important battle shows that ISIS loses wherever it appears and that it is domed to be defeated and suffer multiple critical loses in human and financial resources. And its flock’s self-esteem is at its worse, which will be a positive reflection at the next Mosul battle.
